How to answer simplest question on job interview
On every job interview, there is one great “mystery” question. “Tell me about yourself”? Well, I was born in year… Started working from my sixth year… and the answer for your job interview will be that recruiters will thank you for coming, but result would not be what you expected. Instead, it’s probably your first and best chance to pitch the hiring manager on why you’re the right one for the job.
How to answer question on job interview
The best way to answer to this question is from the present to the past and back to the future. Don’t be super detail, and talk about when you were a baby till a day you will be 100 years old. Good thing would be to speak about things in your CV or cover letter. Step by step, and point important staff. Present position and experience, and skills. Previous job and experience, skills, and finish with future goals, and why is that opportunity important to you.
Let me give you an example:
If someone asked, “tell me about yourself,” you could say:
“Well, I’m currently an account executive at GetYourJob company, where I handle our top performing clients. Before that, I worked at an agency where I was on three different major national healthcare brands.
And while I really enjoyed the work that I did, I’d love the chance to dig in much deeper with one specific healthcare company, which is why I’m so excited about this opportunity with your company.”
When you are pointing skills and experience you have, be sure to point the ones that are most important and noted in job add. Relax as much as you can, tell funny stories from your work concerning new position but with dignity and professionally. Don’t be a joker or a clown, be the person they want to hire. Be confident above all.
