Phases of burnout syndrome
First phase – idealist enthusiasm When some job you start to work, positive energy is always there, lots of hope and unreal expectation. Maybe you expect all great and perfect on work. In this phase you don’t save yourself and give your maximum, and spend your energy with no limits. Giving your maximum is ok as long as it’s with you real possibilities.
Second phase – stagnation. After a while it will come to reality pounding and it’s becoming clear how things are going. After that, you still love you work , do it, but not with same excitement as before. You remember that you have other things in your life, friends, family, work promotions…
Third phase – frustration. This is phase in which you have questioning. How much are you productive on your work, and what is the point of doing it still. Of course, if you are working and giving your best for a long time now, and answers to your questions are usually negative, that means that frustration level is growing.
Fourth phase – apathy. Apathy is opposite than empathy. No emotions and very difficult condition, is very clear sign that something is wrong. It manifest with avoiding people, as result of moving away from frustration. Apathetic people are not interested for their work, and if it grow from there it can grow to other spheres of persons life. This persons work just to survive and get a very little energy invested in their work.
Be positive. Surround yourself with positive people. Burnout will get you in bad mood and a lots of problems. It will be problematic to start solving it, but burnout syndrome is easy to spot. And after to be resolved. The faster the better. In this hard times it’s easy to slip, and it’s normal. But it is normal to stand up after that and go forward.
