Alcohol in business opportunities
To drink, especially alcohol, or not on companies celebration is individual question for every person for every occasion. No matter if you are having business lunch or it’s celebration as occasion alcohol is always available. For that reason it’s important that you make your decision before you get the possibility to choose the drink. Having that in mind, smart decision would be to set the limit for number of drinks you will have. In one poll of HR managers said that alcohol is acceptable:
• 70% on holiday parties
• 40% on business lunch with client
• 32% on retirement celebration
• 28% celebration of business success
• 22% on lunch with colleague
• 14% never
Alcohol or No Alcohol
Use this facts when you are deciding about alcoholic drink. No matter if that is socially acceptable in other occasions when business is concerned smart thing would be to skip it. You, for sure, should see what is official politics about drinking on work. If you get dizzy from one drink, feel free to stop, don’t get drunk. Or what will happen? If you are lucky, nothing. If you are not, and not careful, you can get drunk. And after, have problems concerning your job, your skills, promotion, or something else. You could make some big problems, get in a fight with someone, or something like that. After that, I think everything would be very problematic on your work, for some time. It could be problem too if you are driving, for yourself, or others.
If your company insists that you try some drink, I guess it would be ok. Just don’t have it much. You don’t want to be laughed at.
When people get drunk it can be embarrassing for their surrounding too. But do not worry, just take control when it happen.
